You will love this BBQ sauce, spicy without being too much! Even great with a steak.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon Ancho Chili Powder
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small onion (chopped)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tabespon brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 cup water
Directions
Heat oil in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until soft, stirring often, about 4 minutes.
Add tomato paste; stir 2 minutes.
Add garlic and stir 30 seconds.
Add wine and Ancho Chili Powder; simmer 2 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup of water, ketchup, and all remaining ingredients. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring often.
Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
Recipe Note
You can puree in blender if needed. For hotter sauce substitute Guajillo Chili Powder for the Ancho Chili Powder.
